In organizational leadership, the person who steps in for the President when the President is absent is the Vice President. This role is designed as the direct substitute, ensuring continuity of leadership and smooth operation of meetings. The Vice President typically presides over meetings in the President’s absence, helps carry out the President’s agenda, and may coordinate with other officers to keep initiatives moving forward. The Secretary, who handles records and minutes; the Treasurer, who manages finances; and the Parliamentarian, who enforces rules and procedures, do not normally take over the President’s duties in their absence.
